BUTCHERY LESSONS, 2025

Butchery Lessons by Emmeline Chuy is a high-energy ensemble piece surrounding Jo, a New York waitress looking for a cure to her loneliness in all the wrong places.  A ghost twin, a dug-addicted chef, a sadistic therapist and a suicide attempt later, we are left questioning trust, satisfaction, and the meaning of feeling whole.  Emmeline was both our playwright and lead actor, creating an extremely trusting and collaborative space where we could dance, lift, sweat, and serve.  The show had a three day run at the Tank in March of 2025.

Lift Call at the Tank

"Butchery Lessons is fun, inventive, and honest. A rarity in an artistic industry that's afraid to take risk. Butchery Lessons gives me hope in indie art and in the future of narratives around messy women."
